What is Warrambeen Film Festival?

Sheep and Films...

To attend the day session you will need a DAY Pass. Throughout the DAY, there is a produce market serving up delicious local delights. Clyde Park woodfired pizzas, Gladioli of Inverleigh, Three Troupers Brewery, Meredith Pork, Summer Sensations Icecream. Live country and folk music booms off the main stage with lots of other entertainment to keep you busy between screenings- pony rides, face painting and a jumping castle for the kids. Films play continuously on the screens dotted around the farm buildings. We will also offer a bar, food and music throughout the night to make this the only camping film festival in Australia. Camping is for all ages but NIGHT session is strictly 18+. In other words, families are welcome to camp and we will have a separate area for families, however please beware, the NIGHT session is a bit of a party! The festival finishes in the early hours of Sunday morning and campers can sprawl out under the stars.

‘Warrambeen’ is the most unique film festival in Australia, if not the world. We show short films from all corners of the globe on five screens within a Sheep farm, ‘Warrambeen’. We also show Aussie features at night to the camping audience.

These unusual cinemas create a very picturesque location and that is just the beginning of what’s on offer. Cinema 1 and 2 are in the historic Bluestone woolshed that was built in 1832. Cinema 3 in a day screen that sits in the Orchard in front of the stunning Homestead, Cinema 4 is in the Shearers Quarters and Cinema 5 is the Massive 8 x 10 metre inflatable, that pops up next to the main stage to become the focus of the day/evening. The produce market surrounds the main stage in a natural amphitheatre.

In the evening the main stage and screen becomes the focus. Our headline act, Axle Whitehead will warm up the crowd as the sun slips behind the gum trees. We then show the ‘Best of the Fest’ or our top short films selected earlier in the year by our committee. These films are then judged by a few celebrities, film makers and farmers that make up the judging panel. Winners are announces and that concludes the DAY part of the event at about 10.30pm.

For the first year in 2012 Warrambeen will have its inaugural NIGHT session for our exclusive campers. We will be showing two Aussie feature films. Expect some classics….Thrillers and Horrors to test your nerves in the middle of a paddock!

FILMS
Award winning Australian and International Films will again be shown on several screens across 'Warrambeen' property. In the NIGHT session Aussie feature films. Classics include Wake in Fright and Mad Max.

Q & A
Warrambeen will see professional filmmakers host a Q&A session where attendees can ask questions about the filmmaking process in a informal forum. This years’ Q&A session includes Anna Jeffries, the Director of ‘US’ and a scientists from Free Range Scientist to discuss the film ‘Post Apocalyptic Man’.
