Roy's Film
With Warrambeen Film Festival's focus on preserving regional stories and history, Roy the Rooster, our friendly mascot, produces a short film annually telling a tale synonymous with the region which has its premiere at the festival itself.
While this program will be rested in 2011, don't worry, it will be back soon.
2010 - We of the Walls
For the inaugural year the film was We of the Walls. Starring local boy Geordie Taylor and featuring Axle Whitehead this short film tells the fable of two brothers that built dry stone walls in the region.
Synopsis: We of the Walls tells the tale of an ambitious young Scottish Dry Stone Waller, Cailean Breen, in 1860’s Victoria. A time of pioneering, gold, and men forged of the earth. Yet this is also a time when class and birth right rules above a man’s dreams of something greater. Cailean knows exactly what he wants. He wants out of stone walling, out of the life that his father and grandfather birthed him into and away from the monotony and slow death that comes from placing stone upon stone. Cailean dares to dream and that dream will entangle his fate with those of his brother, the other wallers, and a woman he dare not love, plunging them head long towards a climax none of them could have imagined.
