FAQ

What is Warrambeen?
Warrambeen property is steeped in a rich history and plays host to this unique event. Amongst its heritage listed and blue stone buildings you will find the many exciting components of the Warrambeen Film Festival.

The Shed - 120 seats (interior)
Housed in the historical shearers shed, this venue provides real old world and rural charm to the event.

The Sheep Yards - 220 seats (interior)
This captive audience corralled like sheep will enjoy more short films on another of the indoor screens.

The Shearers Quarters - 60 seats (interior)
New for the first time in 2012, sit back and enjoy a Q&A with a scientist while you marvel at a line up of fabulous 'science-focused' short films presented by Free Range Science.

The Hill - 1000+ seats (exterior)
With the historic manor house quietly overlooking this main outdoor venue, The Bank, with its natural grassy amphitheatre will have a stage for live acts throughout the day and be the location for the finalist films and awards ceremony.

The Orchard - 400+ seats (exterior)
Set in the garden just below the house, this large outdoor screen will be our first day time film venue. These beauitful surrounds will be a special place to watch some of the best short films from around the world.

Can I get cash out at the venue?

No! Please make sure you bring enough money for whatever you wish to do on the day.

What kind of films will be screened?
Short films from Australia and abroad. Films will be put into blocks and replayed so all audiences will have a chance to catch them. There will also be a family friendly block so parents can safely take their children in, as well as an adult’s only block just for those over 18. Please be aware that the finalist films and 'Roy's Film' will have a M+ rating and it is at parents discretion whether they are appropriate for their childrens viewing.

What is the food and wine festival element all about?
Warrambeen Film Festival is very focused on highlighting the wonderful assets of the region. Part of that is of course the local produce which will be showcased in a food and wine area. Some of the top regional producers will have their best product out for you to try and buy.

What should I bring?
A chair. A simple standard size camping chair would be best as there is no seating provided in any of the venues apart for those with special needs. Don't forget your tickets too including their unique code to be checked at the entrance of the festival.

Can I bring Alchohol?
Unfortunately no. The local football club is running the bar at the event making it their biggest fundraiser for the year so we wouldn't want to take away from this worthy cause.

Can I bring my pet?
We love little Bobo as much as the next person, but unfortunately dogs and other pets can't join us at the festival. For those who are curious Roy the Rooster isn't owned by anyone.

What kind of music will be playing on the main stage?
Mainly local acts. Again we want to show off all that the region has to offer so some of the top local acts and some new emerging ones will be playing to appeal to a broad range of tastes.

What other activities will there be?
Lots of other activities will be available for all to enjoy, from a jumping castle for the kids, to Sovereign Hill's Redcoat demonstrations for the bigger kids, not to mention a Q&A session with a screen professional for the adults.

What are the Q&A session's all about?
Connecting regional audiences with the broader screen industry is an exciting part of the Warrambeen Film Festival. For this reason a screen industry professional will present a short film or an extended segment from a larger work to patrons and will then open up to a Q&A session. Ask all those questions you have always wanted to know. How do you choose a subject? Develop characters? Structure a film?
